After the all-electric Ford Mustang Mach-E, the American automaker continues its momentum, this time around by unveiling its Mustang Cobra Jet 1400, another all-electric motor vehicle. Innovation is at the heart of the work of Ford engineers, who are stepping up efforts to continue the electrification of their vehicles.
Chartrand Ford in Laval, near Boisbriand, Terrebonne, Sainte-Thérèse and just minutes from Montreal, presents this all-new 100% electric sports car that won’t go unnoticed on the track.
The Mustang Cobra Jet 1400’s primary objective is to demonstrate the capabilities of a 100% electric engine in one of the most demanding racing environments. The prototype has been specifically designed to deliver over 1,400 horsepower and over 1,490 lb-ft of instant torque. This Mustang promises lightning acceleration on a track that may surprise many. Fasten your seatbelts, the car accelerates fast!
What’s more, the manufacturer with the blue oval has created an incredible electric vehicle that promises breathtaking performance. Pending the possible adoption of a hybrid powertrain in its next generation, it has been announced that the Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 will be powered by a 100% electric motor and that it plans to swallow distance “in the low 8-second range” at over 273 km/h. We couldn’t have asked for more from a fully electric sports car.
In addition, the Mustang Cobra will take part in a Dragster-type event, and as such, Ford wants to prove that its new car can have its say in Ford performance motorsports. The Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 is expected to take part in this event in 2020. Many curious people would like to see the capabilities of the Cobra Jet 1400 against the Lotus Evija, a 2,000-horsepower hypercar.
The automaker’s new vehicle also pays homage to the original Cobra Jet of the 1960s, which was once equipped with a V8 engine. This project is an opportunity for Ford to develop electric powertrains in the world of racing. All in all, Ford is taking the audacity even further, this time with this car ready for big track racing.
