Many consumers complained about the complicated interface of the MyFord Touch (or MyLincoln Touch) in the past. Well, that’s about to become ancient history in early 2012 thanks to a major update announced by Ford today.

MyFord Touch’s touchscreen will now feature bigger icons (up to 40% larger), more legible fonts and a faster screen response time. Non-crucial visual elements have been dropped, while the consistency of the menus, the voice-recognition experience, the navigation maps, and the noise- and echo-cancellation during calls have all been enhanced.

Lastly, Audible.com audiobooks and tablet devices will now be compatible with MyFord Touch.

The first vehicles to benefit from the updated MyFord Touch system will be the 2013 Ford Escape, Flex and Taurus models.

Owners of 2011-2012 Ford Explorers, Ford Edges and 2012 Ford Focus models will be able to upgrade their existing sytems. An upgrade will also be available for the 2011-2012 Lincoln MKX MyLincoln Touch system. All upgrades will be free of charge.
