Ford announced that the 2012 C-MAX, a crossover wagon with seating for up to seven, will make its North American debut at the 2011 NAIAS in Detroit.

Versatility-seeking families will be pleased with the clever 5+2 configuration (five seats in the main cabin and two smaller seats in the third row). Moreover, the vehicle will offer handy features and amenities such as keyless entry, a hands-free liftgate and active park assist, which automatically steers the vehicle into parallel parking spaces. Of course, SYNC will also be available.

Similar to many new compacts, including the Nissan Juke and Chevrolet Cruze, the 2012 Ford C-MAX will be powered by a small turbocharged engine, namely the 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder EcoBoost. Expect a combination of responsive performance with improved fuel economy and reduced CO2 emissions.

The new C-MAX is part of Ford Motor Company’s global small vehicle strategy that will deliver at least 10 models – and 2 million vehicles annually – from a single C-car platform by 2012. Further details will be released at the NAIAS and, naturally, Auto123 will be there to provide live coverage.
